Matt Powers
Matt’s story isn’t unique: He came to Breckenridge in 1999 and knew this was where he wanted to stay. In his previous career, He learned about business and finance—a good grounding for the nuts and bolts of working as a professional Realtor. There are many details to be managed in a real estate transaction and his job is to simplify that process. He likes that aspect of the business, but what he really enjoys is the opportunity to forge relationships with people. He knew from the beginning that to have a fulfilling life engaged in work he would enjoy, he had to find a way to connect with people. Those three key elements—business, home, people—came together in his career as a Realtor.
Home isn’t just a word to him; it’s an idea; a place where memories are made—so for the past 10 years, he has immersed himself in the life of the mountain community; made many great friends to bike, ski and hang out with, met his wife, Alison and has two kids—Eli, now 6, and Macy, 3. Breckenridge is his home, and they love their life here.
He has been gratified to see his business grow as a result of referrals from past clients and from friends he’s made in Breckenridge. He strives to be a professional his clients can rely on, and he really enjoys the process of helping them with one of life’s key decisions—buying or selling a home. He is fortunate that in working with many different clients with a variety of needs, he has gained considerable experience with the wide range of properties available in Summit County, from investment condominiums to mountain dream homes.
Putting together a real estate transaction isn’t about the deal—it’s about having an open and honest relationship with people who come to him for help in making one of the most impactful decisions of their lives. He can guide you through the intricacies of contracts, loans, inspections and all the myriad details required to get the ‘deal’ done. But, for him, working with you is about forming a rewarding and hopefully long-term relationship. Because for most clients it’s not as much about the building as it is about their lives, families, community and future.

Gretchen Benson
Gretchen was born in Galveston, Texas. After moving around to a handful of cities (Albuquerque, Austin and Denver), Gretchen’s family ended up in Kingwood, Texas right outside the Houston area. When it was time for college, Gretchen moved back to Colorado and attended Colorado State University which is located in Fort Collins, Colorado. While in college Gretchen worked at Wilderness Inquiry, a company that specializes in outdoor adventure trips for the disabled. Working at Wilderness Inquiry gave Gretchen the experience and skills for handling individuals and their families in demanding yet rewarding situations.
After graduating from CSU, Gretchen accepted a job in Bettles, Alaska guiding outdoor trips in the Gates of the Arctic, Alaska. During her time in Alaska, Gretchen learned that determination and strength are key elements of success. The best experience Gretchen took away from Alaska was meeting her husband Brandon. Gretchen’s time in Alaska was amazing but her heart was always in Colorado. Gretchen moved back to Colorado in 2000, landed in Summit County and has been here ever since. Gretchen and Brandon established themselves in the county from the start by working in property management and appliance repair.
In the summer of 2004, Gretchen and Brandon married under the beautiful landscape of Breckenridge. Soon after their first child was born the Bensons knew right away that Breckenridge was the perfect place to raise their family. After two children and years of working in both property management and appliance repair, the Bensons took the opportunity to start a family owned and operated appliance repair business. Appliance Pro was born in 2005 and has been growing every year since. Appliance Pro has established itself in the county as a company that never shys away from a job that is too big or too small. Appliance Pro’s attitude has always been, “we do it all”! Gretchen has brought this same philosophy to her real estate career.
From a 1 bedroom, 1 bath mountain condo to a ski-in/ski-out home, she can manage it all. Gretchen’s strength and perseverance to handle a transaction from the beginning phase all the way through to the closing will guarantee that her client’s interests are always her #1 priority.
